When I heard that Cebu Pacific Denied Special Child issue, I felt bad about it.
Seriously. I thought they are encouraging everyone to board via Cebu Pacific since their slogan states:
It’s time everyone flies.
Here is the statement that came from Cebu Pacific representative based on the news article here.
“We deeply regret the incident and have already taken steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again. We had apologized to the affected passengers who nonetheless traveled to Manila on the same flight,”
Well, the mere fact that they immediately issued a public apology meant that something ‘off’ happened and that there is something they need to do to correct what happened.
Cebu Pacific Flight Discrimination
What could have caused this incident? Was it ignorance of the policy or lack of proper training? How many times did the Cebu Pacific representative fly and do his duties before that incident happened? I don’t want to assume but this could’ve been a case of misinterpretation of understanding the carrier’s policy.
But still, that’s their main responsibility as airline crew. They are supposed to understand these policies since they are the frontliners of the company. I really can’t believe that something like this will happen just because they passengers ‘looked different’.
I just hope that there will be a resolution to this case as we don’t want this mistake to happen again. I hope that the public will remain vigilant and the media to do some follow-up news on this and will not be another case that’s forgotten over time.
